Mindy tagged me to complete this blogger survey. Here goes nothin’!

  1. Post these rules.
  2. Post 11 random things about yourself.
  3. Answer the questions set for you in their post.
  4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag.
  5. Go to their blog and tell them that you’ve tagged them.

random facts:

[one] I have been in four plays. I played the Fairy Godmother in “Cinderella” in eighth grade; seven characters in “The Laramie Project” in high school; the Hon. Gwendolyn Fairfax in “The Importance of Being Earnest” in 2008; and Brooke Ashton in “Noises Off” in 2010.

[two] I have never, ever dyed my hair. I am naturally blonde.

[three] I much prefer to watch television shows en masse—on DVD or Netflix, episode after episode after episode. We recently have done this with “Dexter,” “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad.”

[four] I once locked my keys in my car twice…in the same day. (I told you I never dyed my hair!)

[five] I competed in forensics (speech team) in high school, and I found my niche in the group discussion, student Congress and public forum debate categories. I qualified for nationals my senior year in two categories, student Congress and public forum debate, but only competed in public forum debate; my partner, Sam, and I made it through several rounds and were the only team to beat the team that eventually won the whole tournament.

[six] I am allergic to metal, and I have to wear sterling silver or gold to avoid red, itchy, bumpy skin.

[seven] I almost always eat item by item—that is, if I have a plate filled with chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans, then I will eat all of the green beans, then all of the chicken, then all of the mashed potatoes. I try to save my favorite thing for last.

[eight] I always wanted to take music lessons—voice or violin, as far as I can remember.

[nine] I enjoy camping, provided I have access to a modern toilet and hot shower. I first camped as a Girl Scout (without those amenities) but then camped with my dad and brother in Custer State Park, S.D., Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Wis., and Black River Falls, Wis.

[ten] I want to own my own café—a small, comfortable place, where I would serve homemade salads, soups and sandwiches and sell homemade treats. I also would love to own a neighborhood sports pub—again a small, comfortable place, where I would cook and Christopher would tend bar and operate (correctly) the TVs.

[eleven] I have a childhood nickname—“Wormal”—and all of its variations, including “Worm” and “Wormette.” I got it from my mom because I wiggled like a worm as a baby.

questions from Mindy:

[one]  If you were doing a destination wedding, where would it be? I was married in June in Wisconsin, which, at the time, was a destination. I hate to fantasize about my wedding happening any other way than the way it was because it was the most perfect day of my life.

[two]  What was the first movie you saw? “The Little Mermaid.”

[three]  What book do you think everyone should read? “Night” by Elie Wiesel.

[four]  What’s the best joke you’ve ever heard? I haven’t heard any jokes in a while…

[five]  What’s your favorite pizza topping? Sausage (the fennel seed-studded Italian kind), mushroom and onion or ham and pineapple.

[six]  What was your favorite subject in high school? Chemistry.

[seven]  Do you prefer the summer or winter Olympics? I like both—summer for swimming and diving, track and field and volleyball and winter for figure skating, speed skating and bobsled.

[eight]  What’s your favorite dessert? Chocolate chip cookies, warm out of the oven, or chocolate lava cake.

[nine]  Would you rather watch the Super Bowl or World Series? World Series. I almost had the chance this past year: The Milwaukee Brewers won the National League Division Series, but lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.

[ten]  What concert is on your bucket list? The Police, Arcade Fire or Bon Iver.

[eleven] If you had to live in another country for a year, where would you live? Germany.

I did forget it. Edited to include that I played The Woman Who Liked to Make Vaginas Happy in “The Vagina Monologues” in college.
