Ch-ch-ch-changes

The times they are a’changin’…

Christopher and I continue to make significant life changes one after another, after another. First, we moved in together in Janesville in summer 2009. Then, we got engaged on our two-year anniversary in December 2009. Then, we moved across the lake to Muskegon in summer 2010. Then, we got married in Menomonee Falls in June. And now, we are moving to northwestern Illinois at the end of the month; Christopher got a job opportunity he couldn’t refuse, I will be looking for something fulfilling while I continue to figure out what I’m supposed to be when I grow up and we found a gorgeous house we can’t wait to call our own.

It’s exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. It’s exciting to see how far we’ve come, how much we’ve grown up and accomplished together in such a relatively short amount of time. But it’s overwhelming to think we will have lived in three states, moved four times and changed jobs twice in about two years.

We wouldn’t be able to do it without each other…or without our amazing families and friends; we have an amazing support network, and we’re excited that our new ventures will put us smack dab in the middle of it.

I also continue to think about making some significant blog changes in the coming months. I started Musings of a Midwestern Girl to chronicle our new life in Michigan, our adventures back home in Wisconsin, my passion for food and cooking and for living a healthy life peppered with plenty of running, yoga and beer. I also started blogging to fuel my itch to write.

I have thought about becoming self hosted, changing the design (and maybe even the name) of the blog and signing on for some Foodbuzz or other relevant advertising. I also have been thinking about ways I can post more.

I (along with some support from my dear friend, Mindy) joined That Weight Loss Challenge 2 over on That Wife not only to motivate myself to stick with the healthy eating and exercising during what could prove to be a very stressful time, but also to motivate myself to blog more about my everyday life. I don’t necessarily believe in the blog-three-times-a-day approach of most healthy-living bloggers, but I do love the blogging styles of people such as Kristin over at Iowa Girl Eats; she blogs once or twice a day and usually only shares her dinner (whether the recipe is her own or found and adapted from someone else) or weekend adventures. I feel like I could do a better job of sharing my almost-everyday eats and adventures with you.

I’m thinking of blogging every two to three days, sharing my eats from the day and whatever other random things come my way. I think it will help me develop some consistency with not only my writing, but also my photography. I also think it will help me have some viable content to offer readers and potential advertisers/sponsors. I don’t except to be — nor do I want to be — a Healthy Tipping Point, or Carrots ‘n’ Cake or Peanut Butter Fingers — but I can only hope to grow my little blog, show off more of my personality and style and develop some sort of reputation as a girl who’s living life to the fullest in America’s heartland.

I hope you’ll stick with me through the transitions. And I hope you won’t hesitate to offer feedback  (or opportunities to write/create or guest post, if you know of them) where appropriate. I am so thankful for all of my readers — no matter if there’s two of you or 2,000 of you! You (especially you, Mom and Dad) make blogging fun and worth it.

Wish us luck as we embark on another adventure!

Sterling/Dixon…so not really all that far from you. Rockford is about 45 minutes away! We need to meet!
