It was baking night in our house last night. I warily tested two dog-biscuit recipes, and Dexter patiently waited for them to cool. I came away with one winner…
I call these banana-pumpkin bites.
Here’s the recipe:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup mashed banana
1/4 cup pumpkin
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine flour, cinnamon and nutmeg and cut in margarine. In a small bowl, beat banana, pumpkin and buttermilk. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until soft dough forms.
Drop by rounded tablespoons onto baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool and store in an airtight container for up to a week or in a freezer bag for up to a few weeks.
I also came away with one
I call these pot roast balls.
The recipe included flour, shredded carrot, seasoning salt and beef broth, but the dough turned out sort of gummy and the treats turned out kind of heavy. I will keep working on these. Dexter ate one and liked it, and I sampled a small crumb and thought the taste was good.
Ah, you win some, you lose some…right?
